Virginia Trip! (1)

7-3-09

2'oclock and we've finally made it out of Texas and into Arkansas. And only after two monopoly games, a game of risk, a nap, and four hours of driving did we finally get to take a break at the Arkansas Welcome center. I find it funny the different attitudes we found as we entered the welcome center. As my dad waited in line the lady at the desk would ask "how many people was in our party, where we were headed"and other such questions. She cheerfully assisted the people who were there for Arkansas. As my dad walked up to the front desk. He stated there were four people in our party and that we were just passing through. Suddenly, her attitude changed. She didn't smile as much and just handed us a map and a tour guide and asked for the next customer. (Just thought that was funny.)

Saturday July 4th, we went to the beach and boogie boarded for a few hours then watched the fireworks on the beach. It was really crowded but alot of fun. In fact were going back tomorrow morning to catch the surf all day!

Yesterday was really exciting! We got a personal tour of the U.S.S. Normandy CG 60. A cruiser ship of the United States Navy! I saw up close where'd I as GM would work, sleep and whatnot. I got to see up close the 5" guns one the front and back of the ship, as well as where the captain sits to actually drive the ship! Really cool. Even though the Cruiser is one of the more smaller ships in the fleet (Frigate, Cruiser, Destroyer, Battleship, Amphibious, and Aircraft Carriers) it was still HUGE! We don't have anything but the beach planned for tomorow but Wednesday we are going to Washington D.C. so I will definately post a blog that evening about my D.C. trip. We will then go to Anapolis Maryland to tour the Naval Academy and stuff. More to come! Thanks for following.

.... A few months later.

For reasons I forgot about I didn't finish this post and make a Virginia 2. The trip was a great success! I got to see the White House and The Washington and Lincoln Memorials. It was alot of fun and can't wait to go back.
